Founded in 1998, wcities is the world's premier location-based information service provider with coverage that currently spans over 200 major world cities (400 cities by end of Q1 2001) and has operations in over 75 countries.

We deploy a proprietary globally scalable, end-to-end technology platform allowing us to compile and aggregate location-based information and m-& e-commerce services, package with geo-coding, mapping, routing, personalisation features and third-party content, and optimise it for distribution via multiple-devices. Our close collaboration with positioning technology developers and infrastructure vendors allows us to integrate our location-based information service with any wireless gateways and positioning system deployed by any mobile networks. Current developments in progress include the origination and streaming of video and audio content to handheld devices.

We market our "private/ white label" service to wireless networks, WAP and web portals, carriers, business and travel service providers (we do not market our service directly to consumers). We have signed agreements with a number of world class internet and wireless brands, that include portals, carriers and equipment vendors. We can provide the service as a streamlined batch or real time XML, HTML, WML, cHTML, HDML or SMS feed to a complete hosted integrated location-based service solution. Many of our customers and partners are integrating the wcities technology platform as part of their networks. wcities is the only company in the market that can provide location-based information services on a global basis, with content in both English and the local language (in multiple languages on request).

Our business model allows us to provide location-based information services for any city in any language, in a relatively short space of time and when required by a customer. All local information is compiled using local researchers, reviewers and editors based in their respective cities, offering a truly local perspective on local businesses, services and events - from the people who understand and know their city best. This allows wcities to maintain constantly updated information.
